Mini Divas found treasures at the annual used book sale.

by Diva Nicole Olson

This weekend, I took my mini divas to the Annual Used Book Sale at Blyth Memorial Hall. This event was presented by the Blyth Festival theatre and is one of its most successful fundraisers. Not only is this the largest used book sale in Huron County, but it has been taking place for over 35 years! The dedicated staff of volunteers accepted donations from the public Monday through Thursday, and the sale ran Friday May 31 from 5-8 pm and Saturday June 1 from 9 am-2 pm, free admission. The selection available was nothing short of remarkable. They had thousands of books including: children’s books, hard and soft cover novels, romance novels, sheet music, video and board games, CDs, DVDs and sheet music. There was literally something for everyone and the prices were right! We substantially increased the volume of our home library. As you can tell from the picture, the minis couldn’t wait to get started on our new acquisitions.

Yum, yum, this homemade pecan pie was a hit at our home.

And, I haven’t even got to the sweet part! In addition to the book sale, there was a selection of homemade pies available — whole for $9, or by the slice for $2.50. A pecan pie found a new home with us, but also available at the time were apple and rhubarb. There was a pre-order option that I will definitely remember for next year. This was my first experience at the Annual Book Sale and Pie Bake, and will not be my last. It is no wonder people travel from far and wide to attend this event.
