Delicious Time at Thyme on 21

13 Jan

By Diva Trista Russell

I have to admit that January is a blah month. After the holiday season filled with great food, parties, friends, and family, the cold and snowy days that come after seem to drag on. So, on an impulse, I decided to get out rsz_1img_2472and try a new restaurant!

I headed to Thyme on 21 in Goderich for dinner. I had never been there before, and I had heard some great reviews from my coworkers. The restaurant is located in a beautiful Victorian home along Highway 21 in Goderich, just a block away from the historic square.

First off, the service was excellent. I was greeted by the host and had a nice chat with him about the history of the property. He lead me to a nice spot by the window across from the fireplace. And when leaving, he even helped me put on my coat! Small touches like that really enhance the experience. The server, Michelle, was very friendly and courteous. The decor inside is rustic and regal, and it makes for a very intimate atmosphere. While this is a great spot to eat anytime of the day, I really think this restaurant would be a great pick if you’re looking for a romantic evening for two.

The most important part: the food! Everything was very fresh and tasty. The portions were just right: not too big and not too small. I had the smoked salmon for an appetizer, which was accompanied with dill mayo, red onion, capers and fresh baguette slices. This was something I normally wouldn’t choose, but it fit my criteria: try something I usually wouldn’t make at home. It was a great choice! For the entree, I had the special of the evening which was the beef skewers with hoisin sauce along with rice pilaf and sauteed veggies. To top it off, I had carrot cake for dessert. I have to say this had to be one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time (at least since those fantastic homemade Christmas dinners!). I will definitely be back again.

Tornado Relief Discount Cards

18 Jan

Hey All,

This is Miss Diva Kaylie herself,

I just wanted to let you all know that I have created a discount card for the Tornado Relief Fund.  The card is $10 with the proceeds going directly back to the Relief Fund. On the back of the card there are 12 different discounts offered from local businesses.

The idea of the card is not only to raise money for the community but to also help businesses get back on their feet.

Other businesses that were not directly affected by the tornado still wanted to lend a helping hand and were more than happy to offer a deal/discount in order to help Goderich out.

So far the cards are being sold at Cravings, The Bistro, Shanahan’s Meats, Goderich Chiropractic, and by ME!

I will have more businesses selling them in the next few days and I will keep you posted, but for now these 4 businesses have them for sale!

The card includes:

Sunshine, Shopping, and Swimming

12 Jul

Ahh, another lovely weekend in Huron County! I mentioned a few days ago about the Art Mart in Goderich this weekend. On Saturday I was able to head up and check out all the shopping! It was amazing as usual. Jd purchased some kangeroo meat which was made in B.C, and we sampled about 50 different dips! Glad we didnt eat lunch before we went! We walked around for a few hours admiring all the unique items. I did however, save my favourite booth for last. Its a jewelry stand with all the jewelry handmade by Daniel Poolak, and it is aaaamazing!!!! I found a bracelet that I instantly fell in love with and had to have!

I finished up at the art mart and went to Thyme on 21 for a lunch with my bestest friend Meghan, her boyfriend, and my darling friend Jd. As always lunch was delicious! I absolutely LOVE Thyme on 21, the food and service is always exceptional! Three of us ordered the special, which was a pork and gruyere sandwich. Steve and I had it with tomato and dill soup, and Jd ordered it with the caesar salad,  while Meghan ordered the souffle.

After that we head back to Steve’s to swim all afternoon and enjoy the sunshine 🙂 It was the perfect Saturday!

wining and dining

1 Apr

Last night I headed to Goderich for dinner and went to Thyme on 21. I go there quite often for lunch but I hadn’t been there for dinner in ages. However, after last night I think I will be going there more frequently. The food was amazing! For appetizers I split the spring roles and the chicken liver peppercorn pate. They were both amazing! The dipping sauce for the spring rolls was incredible, and the pate was so so so tasty! I never thought I would be much of a pate person, the thought of eating chicken liver kinda freaks me out, but turns out, I love pate! For the main I ordered the special. Which was pasta in a garlic and white wine sauce with scallops and shrimp, and my dear friend had the lamb tenderloin with roasted red potatoes and sautéed veg in a lemon mint sauce. The lamb was absolutely perfect! It was honestly one of the best lamb dishes I have ever had! That’s the thing I love about restaurants like Thyme on 21, everything was fresh, a lot of the options are local, and everything is made to order. The service was incredible, as it always is, and the overall experience was really nice. The free bread they bring out to is so yummy! Onion and sage loaf straight form the oven, give me a break, so perfect! If you’re looking to go out for a nice meal this weekend, I recommend thyme on 21! ( get the lamb!)
